The Valentré Bridge
Emblem of the city, the Valentré Bridge has crossed the Lot with its three battlemented towers since the 14th century. Listed by UNESCO as part of the Santiago pilgrimage routes, it keeps its military silhouette intact. You walk across it imagining the tolls of old. At its foot, a path drops to the Chartreux spring, ideal for a cool date in summer.
Cathedral and secret gardens
At the heart of Cahors, Saint-Étienne Cathedral displays rare domes of eastern influence and a finely carved flamboyant cloister. Around it, the Secret Gardens, a trail bearing the Remarkable Garden label, scatter around thirty medieval-inspired squares through the old town: a witches’ garden, a courtesans’ garden, an orchard. A walk for two to take in any season, to wonder without rushing.
Cahors wine and halls
Around the city, the Lot vineyards produce the famous black wine made from malbec, powerful and elegant. The Cahors Halls and the market on Place Chapou delight food lovers: foie gras, truffles, cabécou cheeses. On Lyad, Cahors members share their favourite cellars and inns; it is up to you to find someone to raise a glass with.
